THE Pune rural police have arrested the former president of the students’ wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Lonavla city and his aides for allegedly murdering his cousin,following a property dispute late Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Hogle (27),resident of Walvan,Lonavla. His father Arun Hogle has lodged a complaint of murder at the Lonavla city police station. Police have arrested Vinod Vishnu Hogle and his aide Yogesh Jangle. Five more aides of the suspects have been booked.

According to the police,Vinod Hogle (27) is a former president of Lonavla Rastrawadi Vidyarthi Congress (students’ wing of NCP,Lonavla). There was a dispute over construction of some property between Vinod and Abhishek

Police suspect that the murder was a fallout of this property dispute. On Monday evening,Vinod allegedly called Abhishek for a discussion at around 8 in the night.

However later,Vinod and his aides took him under the bridge near Hotel Center Point in Lonavla,where they allegedly strangulated him.

Deputy superintendent of police Vinayak Dhakne,senior inspector Vishnu Pawar and other police officials visited the crime scene.

Meanwhile,the incident created tension in the region for some time. Family members and supporters of Abhishek brought his body to the Lonavla city police station,demanding the immediate arrest of all those involved in the murder case. The fanily members also demanded police protection for Abhishek’s parents. The body was taken out of the police station after the deputy superintendent,Dhakane promised stern action against the assailants.
