Football talent hunt kicks off

A talent hunt organised by Bajaj Allianz,sponsors of the current Champions League winners FC Bayern Munich,was launched in the city on Wednesday. The fourth edition of the Junior Football Camp will see five youngsters getting the chance to travel to Munich and train with coaches of FC Bayern Munich at the club’s training facility for five days. The five youngsters will also receive training scholarships at Mohun Bagan,where they will find a place in the club’s youth programme for three weeks.

This edition of the talent hunt will target 2,000 students from 35 schools in Pune. Two players from each school will be selected and then a city finale will be held to decide a zonal squad. The zonal squad will then play a series of matches against a Mumbai zone squad. One player selected from these matches will get a chance to travel to Munich.

Brahmanand Sankhwalkar,a former goalkeeper for the Indian football team,and Pune FC midfielder Arata Izumi will be the jury members for the West Zone leg of the talent hunt.
