In the first match of the day,PIFA FC left it late against FC Joseph, eventually winning 2-1.

Phoenix FC recorded a thumping 4-0 victory over Ghorpuri Tamil United in the Ashok Vanjari Memorial Cup football tournament. The tournament is being played at the DSK International School in Loni.

Eric D’Souza was the star for Phoenix FC as his brace was instrumental in giving his side victory. Phoenix FC took the lead in the 10th minute, with Rahul Parkhi tapping in an accurate Onkar Havale pass. After the goal, though, the game settled into a midfield battle with both teams being unable to string together coherent attacks. However, the game exploded into life in the 44th minute with D’Souza hammering in a Alex Toethong pass into the back of the net. Two minutes later,D’Souza returned the favour to Toethong as his assist saw the latter score Phoenix FC’s third goal. The fourth and final goal arrived in the 62nd minute after good work down the right by Apurva Kadam. His cut-back found a lurking D’Souza who made no mistake as he cooly slotted the ball past the keeper.

In the first match of the day,PIFA FC left it late against FC Joseph, eventually winning 2-1. It was Rahul Swamy who gave FC Joseph the lead,as he scored off a Victor Pillay pass in the 19th minute. Thereafter,FC Joseph were content to sit back and soak up the pressure as PIFA FC desperately drove forward in search of the equalizer. However,it was not until the 71st minute that the FC Joseph defence was breached. Jayvardan Chavan’s intelligent run was picked out by a long ball off the boot of Gulshan Chavan and Jayvardan wasted no time in placing the ball past the on-rushing goalkeeper. Barely a minute later,Chavan gave his side the winner as he controlled an Akshay Yadav pass before rifling it high into the net.
