The Indian Society of Floriculture Professionals (ISFP)’s ninth monthly meeting was held at Talegaon recently.
The society is promoted by technocrats and managers of export-oriented flower projects in India. “The need for such a society was badly felt as the knowledge bank of this Hi Tech Industry required to be preserved and nurtured. The ISFP to bring all the Indian floriculture professionals under one society. To exchange as much information and knowledge as possible among the professionals,through bulletin boards,e-mails,seminars and news letters,” said Praveen Sharma,president,ISFP.The society will initiate a technical journal on commercial floriculture and will also moot the development of applied research center for commercial floriculture. “We will maintain a database of Indian Floriculture Professionals working in various parts of the world and also plans to form a national committee for the sustainable development of Indian Floriculture,” he said.The Society has already registered 41 technocrats as members from all the major flower farms in and around Pune.. Sharma informed that the membership for the society is open to degree and diploma in agricultural sciences or minimum three years experience hi-tech agriculture.
