An incident of fire at Keshav Nagar in Mundhwa brought to fore illegal stocking of LPG cylinders in the area.
Around 4.30 pm on Wednesday,fire brigade got a call about a fire at a tin shed at survey number 29,Sonai Nagar,in Keshav Nagar in Mundhwa.
When a fire brigade team with fire officer Shivaji Chavan and Dattatray Chaudhari rushed to the spot,it found a domestic LPG cylinder on fire. A major tragedy was averted as there were 18 more LPG cylinders around.
According to the fire brigade,there were 17 commercial LPG cylinders and two domestic LPG cylinders at the spot.
A worker at the spot,Shravankumar Bishnoi of Rajasthan,received minor burns during the incident.
It is suspected that the fire started when the injured was trying to transfer theas from domestic cylinders to commercial cylinders.
A team of Mundhwa police reached the spot and seized the LPG cylinders.
Senior inspector Devidas Patil said,“We have seized the LPG cylinders. We suspect the cylinders were illegally stocked here. We have also detained a tempo driver who was at the spot along with Sharavankumar. Both of them are natives of Rajasthan and stay near the tin shed. Investigation is on to know what were they actually doing with the stocked LPG cylinders.”
