The state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a female government employee and a civilian for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 for issuing project affected people certificate to a person at the office of Deputy Collector (Rehabilitation department),Pune,on Tuesday.
The suspects have been identified as Malati Siddhanath Kavthekar (52),a talathi,and Kapil Dashrath Borde (30),a resident of Shashtri Naagar in Yerwada.
A complaint was lodged by Maruti Vitthal Kale (24),a private firm employee residing at Bhosari.
According to the ACB,Kale had applied for a project affected people certificate at the office of Deputy Collector (Rehabilitation department),Pune,on January 15 this year.
Failing to get the certificate,Kale again applied for it at the same office about two months ago. During this time,Kale met Borde at the office premises who demanded Rs 5,000 from him to get his work done. Borde later agreed for Rs 3,000.
Kale paid him Rs 1,000 but did not want to pay the remaining amount of Rs 2,000 as he did not see any progress in getting the certificate. Following this,he lodged a complaint with ACB,Pune office.
ACB sleuths laid a trap and nabbed Borde red-handed while accepting the bribe around 11.30 am on Tuesday. ACB sleuths also arrested Kavthekar for allegedly encouraging Borde to take bribe.
