Riding on great form,Pune side Apex Falcons scored a 2-1 win over GA Tigers to lift the 10th edition of the PYC-ATC Snooker Challenge 2013 Championship organised by PYC Hindu Gymkhana.

In the final match played at the billiards room of PYC,Apex Falcons took a 1-0 lead when I V Rajiv played attacking snooker to score a 4-2 (67-30,05-89(58),72-30,27-48,78(57)-01,60-57) win over Mahesh Jagdale in an interesting seven-frame match. The match,which was a rather close affair,swung this way and that. However,Rajiv who displayed exemplary temperament throughout the tournament pulled through.

Rahul Sachdev from GA Tigers levelled the scores at 1-1,scoring a 4-2 (15-52,20-65,71-20,63-43,63-45,68-28) win over Yogesh Sharma of the Falcons in a marathon three-and-a-half-hour tussle.

In the decider,India’s third best player Vijay Nichani had to summon all his experience to score a close nerve-wracking 4-3 (64-55,54-43,40-70,38-45,71-18,29-75,60-36 ) win over Sunil Jain in a long drawn out affair that stretched beyond 270 minutes.

The winning team received a trophy and Rs 50,000 cash prize while GA Tigers walked away with a trophy and Rs 30,000 cash. The semifinalists received Rs 20,000 while the quarterfinalists got Rs 10,000. The prize for highest breaks went to I V Rajiv of Apex Falcons (76 points) who received Rs 3,000.
