Amid allegations of irregularities in a land deal involving Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar, Opposition NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar on Saturday said that it is proper that the entire issue is probed and facts are presented before public.
“The Chief Minister has said publicly that the matter is serious. So he should conduct a probe and put the facts before society,” Pawar said, while interacting with journalists in Vidharbha’s Akola. On being asked why FIR has not been lodged against Parth Pawar, he said: “Only Fadnavis can answer this.”
Parth is the grandnephew of Sharad Pawar. The NCP(SP) chief also differed with his daughter and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule over the issue — Sule had said she has “full faith” on Parth.
“What Supriya said is her individual view. For me, family and policies are different.”
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal on Saturday demanded release of white paper on land transactions in Pune and Mumbai and a discussion on it in the upcoming winter session of the state legislature.
“Every day, the state is witnessing a new land scam. From an attempt to grab Jain boarding land involving BJP minister Muralidhar Mohol to government land in Koregaon Park involving Parth Pawar, the shameless government has become full of mediators. In Mumbai, a real estate scam is brewing under Mohit Kamboj. Be it Mumbai or Pune, the land scam is growing. We demand a white paper on land transactions in these two cities after which a detailed discussion on this issue be held,” said Sapkal.
Slamming Ajit Pawar over the announcement of cancellation of sale deed, Sapkal said that the cancellation itself is an admission of guilt. “So why is no action being taken? Why is Parth Pawar’s name missing from the FIR? Earlier, Parth Pawar’s company, Amedea, had grabbed government land belonging to the Agriculture Dairy in Bopodi, Pune, using forged documents. The money for these transactions came from a sugar factory. Who gave the money? How was it routed? People need to get answers. Forming an inquiry committee is nothing but a tactic to waste time.”
