ETH Research Lab to bring ICT revolution

City-based ETH Research Lab will bring information and communication technology-based education to 10,000 schools across the country over the next three years.

City-based ETH Research Lab will bring information and communication technology (ICT)- based education to 10,000 schools across the country over the next three years. With the help of computer or television,the students can directly access the lectures of experts and can interact with them.

The chairman of ETH Research Lab Dr Vijay Bhatkar revealed this in a press conference on Tuesday. He said that the project was already going on in 1,000 schools and is running successfully. “All types of schools — private,aided and even rural schools can be part of the project,” he said.

The project is aimed at bringing transformation in the education sector. “ICT can improve value addition. The experts can directly talk to students through video conferencing. Schools which face shortage of teachers,can teach through ICT-based facility,” he said.

Bhatkar said that the company was also ready with a software called digital home. “Exclusively for women,it will have information about home finance,domestic issues and even content related to childcare. The information such as how to get a gas connection will also be included,” he said.

Besides these two projects,the ETH is also planning a range of innovative products such as Digital Campus,which is a comprehensive ERP for colleges,schools and universities and Digital Nterprise which is an ERP for the SMEs and an innovation portal pertaining to useful information. The products will be officially announced on March 27,the 10th foundation day of the company.

On the 10th foundation day,ETH will honour F C Kohli,K P P Nambiar,N Seshagiri,P P Chhabria and C Sivasankaran with lifetime achievement award. ETH education award will be conferred upon Vivek Sawant of MKCL,Pandit Vidyasagar,director of BCUD,university of Pune,Jaykumar of Vijnana Bharati,Jay Shankar of Networth and Aruna Katara of I square IT.

Eminent scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar and chairman of National Knowledge Commission Sam Pitroda will be chief guests for the function. Founder of Vanrai Mohan Dharia will preside over the function. V Srinivasan,CEO of Siva Ventures and Ram Takawale will also be present.
