The Climate Champions
The British Council Library in association with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is inviting youngsters between the age of 18 and 21 to apply for the International Climate Champions 2011. The youth-based initiative of the British Council is a part of its global project,’Climate Generation’,which is delivered through a network of Climate Champions across 60 countries. Currently there are about 150 International Climate Champions spread across the country working on projects ranging from community development, entrepreneurship to awareness raising and innovation. Youngsters who are committed to the cause of tackling climate change will be trained to make a positive difference through programmes at community and peer group levels. This year,25 such champions will be selected across the country and will receive training, mentoring and guidance from experts in India and the UK to hone their skills and mould them into effective communicators and leaders. Champions will also gain opportunities to meet and network with peers and decision makers at local, national and international levels.
