Dubey-Sahu partnership takes Cognizant to victory

Cognizant recorded a nine-wicket win over KPIT in a high-scoring encounter.

Cognizant and TCS scored their second consecutive wins in the inaugural Manoj Phadke Memorial League Corporate Cricket Championship Cup at the Varroc-Vengsarkar Cricket Academy ground,Thergaon.

Cognizant recorded a nine-wicket win over KPIT in a high-scoring encounter,while TCS looked to be in a hurry before wrapping up a six-wicket win over Harbinger.

Cognizant won the toss and elected to field. They were set a 167-run target by KPIT after Gaurav Thombre hammered a 50-ball 52,helping KPIT finish strongly.

In reply,Cognizant aided by a huge 115-run unbeaten second wicket partnership between Aakash Dubey and Pritam Sahu overhauled the target in 20 overs. Dubey’s 84 off 70 balls proved to be the best score of the day. Dubey was in prime touch as he hammered the KPIT bowlers all over the park,hitting 11 boundaries and two sixes.

In the other encounter,Harbinger who batted first put up a competitive 141 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 25 overs. However,TCS polished off the target in 19.3 overs,losing six wickets in the process. TCS were taken home thanks to a vital and unbeaten 58-run stand for the seventh wicket between Sunil Babar,who top scored wit 31 and Shripad Sawarkar.

Brief scores: KPIT 166 for 7 in 23 overs (G Thombre 52,S Mudliyar 25; P Karan 2/23,A Singh 2/39) lost to Cognizant 167 for 1 in 20 overs (S Punjal 40,A Dubey 84 n.o,P Sahu 34 n.o)

Harbinger 141 for 8 in 25 overs (D Vaidya 43,G Nevrekar 28; R Khandelwal 2/23)lost to TCS 143 for 6 in 19.1 overs (S Mohamad 24,S Babar 31 n.o; R Shetty 3/14,S Amadekar 2/26)

Infosys 180 in 25 overs (S Purohit 46,S Abhyankar 26; A Pawar 4/33,M Jarad 2/13) beat Tata Technologies 127 all out in 23.4 overs (A Francis 41,A Sawant 37; A Jain 4/13,S Purohit 2/22)

Capgemini 178 for 9 in 25 overs beat MP XI 31 in 13.2 overs.
