Driver decamps with Rs 1.16 crore

A driver working with a cash management firm decamped with Rs 1.16 crore meant to be deposited in SBI ATMs.

A driver working with a cash management firm decamped with Rs 1.16 crore meant to be deposited in SBI ATMs. Two staffers,working with Scientific Security Cash Management Services Private Limited,were conducting the routine deposits in ATMs Saturday with Rs 2.3 crore in two trunks. They were accompanied by driver Pramod Baban Ingale,alias Balu,a resident of Warje Malwadi and working with the company for more than two months. When they reached Wagholi,the two staffers deboarded the van and entered an ATM taking one of the two cash trunks. “As per the practice,the two pulled down the shutter of the kiosk. Sensing opportunity,Ingale drove off with one of the cash trunk. He abandoned the vehicle,500 metres from the kiosk and fled with the trunk containing Rs 1.16 crore,” said Narayan Nyahalde,inspector,Lonikund Police Station.
