After Shiv Sena and MNS expressed their reservations about the draft Development Plan (DP) of the city, the BJP on Thursday jumped on the bandwagon alleging the ruling NCP in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) prepared the DP to favour builders and developers ignoring citizens.
Maharashtra BJP chief Devendra Phadnavis said,The suggestions and objections filed by citizens on the draft DP should be incorporated in the final draft. If they are ignored, the BJP will ensure the draft is not passed by the state government. We will also challenge it in court if the need arises, he said.
Phadnavis said the civic administration has succumbed to pressure from the ruling NCP and has changed status of many public facilities that were reserved in the previous DP. He said the administration failed to carry out a detailed study of the land used and has prepared the draft without reviewing the previous DP.
The interest of a few people have been kept in mind while drafting the DP,he added.
BJP leader Vinod Tawade alleged that the preparation of draft DP has been marred by financial deals.
Basic infrastructure is necessary for every citizen. However, the requirements of the public have been ignored to please builders, he said.
