Distribution utility launches drive against power thefts

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd has launched a campaign against power thefts.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has launched a campaign against power thefts. After inspection,1,629 meters were found showing zero consumption,while there were 410 faulty meters and 805 meters with an average use.

The MSEDCL has detected 106 cases of power thefts. It has also replaced 92 meters immediately.

The MSEDCL’s Rasta Peth zone had formed 90 squads for the campaign at Rasta Peth division that includes Padmavati,Parvati,Bundgarden and Nagar Road,while 40 squads were formed for Ganeshkhind zone that includes Kothrud,Shivajinagar,Pimpri and Bhosari.

They have availed help from Damini squad which was specially set up by MSEDCL and consists of women to identify faults in meters and other issues. They found meters in a tampered condition and digits on the meter were not clearly seen.

The campaign will continue till June 30. MSEDCL has appealed to people to give information of power misuse on 9960677029,996067202 and 9960677401.
