The Inspector General of Registration in Pune has filed an FIR against multiple accused for irregularities in the controversial multi-hundred crore land deal in Pune involving Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar, his associate Digvijay Patil, and Sheetal Tejwani. Pawar and Patil are directors of the firm involved Amadea Enterprises LLP, while Tejwani had power of attorney over the concerned piece of Mahar watan land.

Another FIR has also been filed in regards to a separate government land transaction at Bopodi against Digvijay Patil. The FIRs have been filed against Patil and Tejwani, while Parth Pawar has not been named.

Digvijay Patil: Suntetra Pawar’s nephew

Digvijay Patil, 25, is Sunetra Pawar’s nephew. According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs data, Digvijay Patil and Parth Pawar are directors of three LLPs (Limited Liability Partnerships) registered at the same address in Shivajinagar, Pune.

Digvijay’s father Amarsinh, who served as the sarpanch of Ter, where Digvijay is originally from, passed away in 2020. A resident of Ter, who was close to Digvijay’s father Amarsinh Patil, told The Indian Express, “Amarsinh Patil moved to Pune around 10-15 years before his death in 2020. He was Sunetra Pawar’s (Ajit Pawar’s wife) brother and the half brother of former Maharashtra Home Minister Padmasinh Patil. Amarsinh used to come to the village regularly to farm but Digvijay rarely used to come. Digvijay was a very quiet kid and did not interact with anyone much. In my estimate Amarsinh’s father had 200-300 acres of farmland in Ter. Amarsinh stayed away from glamour and rarely even visited his sister Sunetra’s place.”

Patil and Parth Pawar serve as directors of Maharashtra Redevelopment Construction LLP, Amadea Enterprises LLP, and Amadea Holdings LLP. Additionally Patil is the director of one company–DVJ Infrocon Private Limited. Maharashtra Redevelopment Construction LLP was incorporated this year in May. Amadea Enterprises LLP was incorporated in 2020 while Amadea Holdings LLP was incorporated in 2021.

Separately, Parth Pawar is the director of one active company Revati Buildcon Private Limited, with Sunetra Pawar and Sharad Pawar’s wife Pratibha Pawar also listed as directors.

Sheetal Tejwani: Not her first run-in with the law

This is not the first time Sheetal Tejwani has been in a tussle with the law over fraud allegations. FIRs were filed in Pune against Tejwani’s husband Sagar Suryavanshi and later Tejwani herself in the multi-crore Seva Vikas Bank loan fraud from 2018 onwards. In 2020, the Seva Vikas Co Op Bank attached several pieces of properties related to Suryavanshi, Tejwani, and others in the case. Tejwani is listed as the director of the now struck off company Paramount Dreambuild Private Limited, which was allegedly involved in the scam.

Suryavanshi was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in 2023 for allegedly defrauding the bank to the tune of Rs 60.67 crore. “Sagar Suryawanshi and his relatives were found to have defrauded the bank to the tune of Rs 60.67 Crore in 10 NPA loan accounts.” He later got bail from the Bombay High Court in 2024, with the court saying that prima facie the money trail did not lead to him.

The court said, “…the money trail indicates that Sheetal Tejwani (A23) had withdrawn a cash amount and the amounts were transferred to the accounts of Vinay Arahana (A12) and his associates.” Commenting on why Tejwani had not been arrested the court said, “The fact that the prosecution chose not to arrest Sheetal Tejwani (A23) assumes salience.” The court also clarified that the decision to arrest or not arrest lies with the investigating agency and the reasons behind her not being arrested were not required to be discussed in that specific application.
