Chaos persisted at the Pune Airport on Sunday as a total of 32 IndiGo flights, including 14 arrivals and 18 departures, were cancelled.
Long queues were seen at the IndiGo counters throughout the day as anxious travellers gathered in hopes of retrieving missing baggage and confirming alternate schedules amid repeated disruptions.
Passengers crowded the counter just to confirm whether their flights were still operational. “My Pune to Dehradun flight (6E 403) scheduled for December 11 was cancelled, so I rescheduled it to December 10. Today, I have come to the airport only to confirm if the flight is still there because they are not picking up my calls,” said Padmakshi Joshi.
Another passenger, Alexander Cothesreiv, said, “Our Pune to Goa flight (6E 919) is scheduled for tomorrow. We have come just to confirm whether it will actually take off.”
Several passengers alleged that they were not informed about cancellations in advance. “Our Pune to Patna flight (6E 653) was today (Sunday) at 4.45 pm. We came to the airport and only then found out it was cancelled. There was no message, no email from IndiGo,” said Nibha Sinha.
For passengers travelling with infants, the uncertainty has been especially distressing. “My flight to Delhi (6E 2587) was on December 5, but it got cancelled. It was rescheduled to today and I am here early only to make sure it doesn’t get cancelled again as I am travelling with a six-month-old baby,” said Himanshi Narang.
One passenger narrated how repeated delays and baggage issues completely ruined his holiday. “Our flight to Chandigarh (6E 721) on December 3 kept getting delayed and we spent nearly 24 hours at the airport before taking off. When we finally reached Chandigarh, our baggage was missing. They arranged accommodation for one day but without any confirmation of baggage. Later, we were told that our PIR was never created. Our entire holiday was ruined. I told them to keep the luggage in Pune because the trip was already spoiled,” he said.
Another traveller, Arman Khan, said, “On Tuesday, I was supposed to fly from Pune to Delhi and then Gorakhpur but the Delhi to Gorakhpur flight (6E 5347), was cancelled. I have a wedding to attend. They are not answering calls or emails. I had to travel 20 kilometres just to get clarity.”
Missing baggage continues to be a major concern for many passengers. “My relatives came from Delhi to Pune (6E 933) on the night of December 3 after an eight-hour delay. Their baggage was missing. They told us it would arrive on December 4. Today is December 7 and I am still following up. They have no idea where the luggage is,” said Sanjay Singh.
A group trip to Srinagar was also ruined due to the cancellations. “Our Pune to Ahmedabad flight (6E 819), scheduled for December 11, was suddenly cancelled. From Ahmedabad, we were supposed to fly to Srinagar for a 10-day trip. We are a group of eight people. Our hotel bookings and return flights are done, everything was planned in advance. Now, they are not even giving us a confirmed rescheduling,” said Kulwant Jadhav.
With flight cancellations, repeated delays, missing luggage and gaps in communication continuing for several days, passengers called for an early resumption of normal operations.
