In a scene straight out of a bollywood flick,a police constable stopped a speeding jeep carrying dacoits, after he held on to the collar of the driver. The driver identified as Rajendra Sitaram Jadhav was arrested after the jeep turned turtle as he lost control. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at Ranjani village near Manchar.
According to information given by Assistant Police Inspector (API) Dnyaneshwar Ganore, police constable SN Swami fearlessly held on to the dacoit driving the jeep even as it dragged him along.
When asked about the incident,Swami said,” The Manchar police got information that some dacoits had struck at the residence of Laxman Nana Bhor, farmer and snatched gold and silver valuables after threatening the family members. Following which a police team led by Ganore rushed to the village. Upon reaching the village, villagers told us that the dacoits had fled in a jeep.”
“Guided by the villagers,we went in the direction of Belhe village. That is when I stopped a jeep while checking vehicles. There were a total of six people in the jeep. They told that they had gone on a trip to Bhimashankar and were heading home. Since I was wearing a jerkin, the driver initially could not make out that I am from the police department. But when dacoits noticed API Ganore coming near the jeep, they got alerted as he was in uniform and tried to fled the scene,” said Swami
