Criminal opens fire at cops,escapes,4 aides held

Tension prevailed in Tukainagar area in Vadgaon Budruk on Thursday night after a criminal on police records opened fire on a person’s home suspecting him to be an informer.

Tension prevailed in Tukainagar area in Vadgaon Budruk on Thursday night after a criminal on police records opened fire on a person’s home suspecting him to be an informer. They also fired at two police constables who reached there and threatened to kill them.

Before reinforcements could reach the spot,the prime suspect and two others escaped. Police have arrested four others in connection with the incident. No one was injured.

As per information given by Haveli police,which is under Pune rural police,the incident took place on Thursday 9.30 pm in Tukainagar slum area.

Police said that Mahesh Prakash Pawar alias Bunty (26),a criminal on police records along with about six others came to the house of Parag Bhuhad.

Assistant inspector Namdev Kauthale of the local crime branch said,“We later came to know that Bunty suspected Parag to be a police informer and had had a violent dispute with him a few months ago. Since then,he had a grouse against Parag.”

After Bunty and his accomplices reached Parag’s house they started calling out his name and threatening him. Suddenly Bunty fired two bullets at the door of the house.

Kauthale further said,“We got information that two groups were fighting and two constables were immediately rushed to the spot. Bunty fired two rounds at these constable,too. Additional force was called in but Bunty escaped before reinforcements reached the spot.”

“Before additional forces could reach the spot three,including Bunty,fled,” police said.

Ashok Taru,one two constables who first reached the spot,said,“He aimed the gun at me from point black range and threatened to kill me. Then he fled.”

The police team gave chase and arrested four suspects Damodar Dhutawale,Shubham Waghmare,Pramod Tirthe and Ajay Jadhav,all aged between 20 and 23. Police said Bunty has 12 serious offenses registered against him.

Kauthale added,“Offences against him include murder,attempt-to-murder,rape,extortion and those under the Arms Act. He has been absconding.”
