Pune rural police recently filed a charge sheet against 189 farmers in the Maval firing case where police had fired at protesting villagers on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway,killing three villagers,including a woman.

Maval firing case: 189 farmers chargesheeted

PUNE: Pune rural police recently filed a charge sheet against 189 farmers in the Maval firing case where police had fired at protesting villagers on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway,killing three villagers,including a woman. Deputy superintendent of police (Lonavala division) Shankar Jadhav filed the charge sheet in a magisterial court in Wadgaon Maval. The charge sheet named 189 farmers,but only 90 villagers were arrested. All of them are at present out on bail. 100 farmers are named as absconding suspects in the charge sheet. Investigations revealed that the farmers had pelted stones on the police,damaged and burnt several vehicles and staged a rasta roko. “The images were caught on camera and some witnesses had accepted their involvement. We arrested the farmers after collecting evidence against them,” Jadhav said.

9 judges transferred from Shivajinagar court

PUNE: Nine judges from Shivajinagar district and sessions court have been transferred,while 10 judges have been transferred to this court as part of the annual general transfer of judges this year. As per the Bombay High Court list,judges who have been transferred from Pune are A Z Khwaja,district judge -5 transferred to Ahmednagar,O P Jaiswal,district judge 8 as member of industrial court in Amravati,Vrushali Joshi,district judge 10 in Thane,M G Chilbule,district judge 10 to Thane,U L Telgaonkar,district judge 16 to Beed,S G Deshmukh from Pune labour court as civil judge (senior division) in Kalyan,A N Mare,joint civil judge (senior division) to Biloli in Nanded,V K Deshmukh,fifth joint civil judge (senior division) to Yavatmal and S V Sahare,joint civil judge junior division in Amravati. Those judges who have been transferred to Pune are K R Deosarkar from industrial court Amravati,S D Tekale,district judge 2 in Palghar,K D Vandane from MACT Nagpur,M K Walchale,district judge -1,V P Utpat,district judge -Omarga,V P Avhad with Mumbai labour court as civil judge (senior division),N S Kole in Mumbai as labour court judge,M K Jadhav,joint civil judge (senior division) in Nanded,K S Bakre,joint civil judge senior division as labour court judge and M A Mote,joint civil judge junior division in Raigad. They will take charge at their new postings on June 11,when the court reopens after summer vacation.

Waghapure remanded in police custody till April 26

PUNE: Somnath Waghapure,the assistant manager of Manappuram Gold Finance who was arrested on Thursday for allegedly robbing 17.5 kg gold and Rs 6 lakh from Bhavani Peth branch,has been remanded in police custody till April 26 by a magistrate court. Police submitted to the court that they want to interrogate him regarding the whereabouts of the other two absconding accused and to seize the five duplicate keys that were used.
