After allegations by the Opposition that the ruling alliance changed 70 plots reserved for public utility in the draft Development Plan (DP),former corporator Ujjwal Keskar on Friday said the civic administration has failed to mention the floodline in the draft DP that was outlined by the state irrigation department.

“There are two rivers that pass through the city and as per the norms, floodline has to be marked to ensure that there is no encroachment on the land as it may block water and result in floods. However,it seems the civic administration has failed to mention the floodline,” said Keskar.

He added this would encourage construction along the river creating hurdles in the water flow during monsoon.

Sena leader Nilamh Gorhe said the plan to convert the agriculture zone for residential purpose in Sangamwadi was not in the interest of the city and the existing reservation should be retained.

Similarly, the plan to make hill top and hill slope in Bibvewadi available for residential purpose be cancelled as it will reduce the green cover, she said.

Sena legislator Mahadeo Babar said the traffic issues should be given more importance by making provisions in the DP.
