citybriefs: No monsoon revival for 2 days, says Met

The advance of the South-West Monsoon did not seen much progress on Wednesday and the Met department are not hopeful of a monsoon revival in the next two days.

The advance of the South-West Monsoon did not seen much progress on Wednesday and the Met department are not hopeful of a monsoon revival in the next two days. Deputy director general of IMD,Pune,Medha Khole said the main reason for the lull in the movement was an offshore trough extending from south Gujarat to Kerala, and the intensity was to confined to Karnataka and Kerala.

Another system in the South China Sea named Talim,south-west of Hong Kong, too has been responsible for the halt in the progress of the South-West monsoon as it was using up all moisture.

Khole said that the monsoon had covered the entire peninsular India and all parts of north-eastern regions.”These two systems have subdued the rainfall activity,” she said.
