City techie’s credit card details stolen,used

Unidentified persons purchased valuables worth Rs 93,737 in various shops and shopping malls in Italy by using credit card details of Nitin Vasant Shimpi (42),a city-based techie July last year.

Unidentified persons purchased valuables worth Rs 93,737 in various shops and shopping malls in Italy by using credit card details of Nitin Vasant Shimpi (42),a city-based techie July last year.

Shimpi,a resident of Baner,is working as a manager in a private software firm. He has lodged a complaint with the Deccan Gymkhana police station on Saturday.

According to sub inspector R D Patil,it is suspected that unidentified persons managed to get Shimpi’s Axis Bank credit card details such as credit card number and Card Verification Value number and would have prepared a fake one. The original card is with Shimpi. The incident came to light when Shimpi received an SMS on his cell phone stating that he had used the credit card to purchase various articles worth Rs 93,737. After inquiring in the bank about it,Shimpi came to know that the culprits had used the cards in various shops and shopping malls in Italy.
