Good rains in catchment areas,water level in dams reaches 7.86 TMC
The Met department recorded 8 mm rainfall on Monday till 5.30 pm. With this,the seasons rainfall till July 30 for the city stands at 89.7 mm,225 mm short of last years figure.
In June,the city recorded 34.5 mm rainfall. The Monday rain brought some respite but the Met department said it was temporary as the monsoon trough was active. The cyclonic circulation over Jharkand is now near north Madhya Pradesh following which the southern parts of the western coast is receiving good rains,Met officials said. Met officials said some rainfall is expected on Tuesday but the same cannot be said about Wednesday. With the country receiving less rains and monsoon failing to pick up,the government is all set to convene a meeting of the empowered group of ministers,officials said.
With Sunday witnessing continous rains,the Met department recorded 4.9 mm rainfall for the day. Officials said the catchment areas got good rainfall. After the intermittant rains,the water level has gone up to 7.86 TMC as against last years stock of 19.56 TMC in the four dams Temghar,Varasgaon,Panshet and Khadakwasla.
On Monday,catchment areas saw good rainfall with Temghar recording 39 mm rainfall (986 mm),Varasgaon 34 mm (943 mm),Panshet 24 mm (864 mm) and Khadakwasla 7 mm rainfall. Pavana recorded 13 mm rainfall while its total rainfall for the entire season stood at 1356 mm. The dam level is 3.44 TMC.
