Thousands of Northeast students have left Pune,Bangalore and other cities following SMSes and MMSes sent by computer wizards in Pakistan. It is surprising to see how the latest Information Technology can compel thousands to exodus by Pakistan. When they did not succeed in creating panic among the people by planting bombs, they started driving out people from cities and disturb their minds by sending SMSes. Wonder if the same prank is played upon them, what would they do? Our government should think of ways to curb computers, cell phone and internet freedom.

Assam row exposed govt’s selfish attitude

What has happened in Assam during the last week shows the selfish attitude of the government. Had Assam been a state ruled by a non-Congress party, the Centre would have clamped President’s rule, but in Assam, people had no choice. The state and the Centre are both ruled by the Congress and the president is a Congress nominee. So even the President did not poke the government to act tough. It is high time we make some amendments to our Constitution to ensure that the President remains above party politics.
