Opposing amendments to the proposed changes in the Development Plan (DP) of 23 merged villages, citizens group Green Pune Movement filed its objection with the Town Planning Department on Wednesday, the last day of submitting suggestions and objections.
We are against sanctioning of the DP,delayed by more than seven years, and that too in bits and pieces, said Satish Khot of Green Pune Movement after submitting the letter signed by 10,000 citizens.
The approach of clearing the DP by keeping the bio-diversity park (BDP) issue in abeyance is highly objectionable,he said, adding that the proposed substantial changes to DP,other than BDP reservations, should not be implemented without settling the BDP issue.
We as citizens do not understand the strategy of the state government in clearing the DP,which allows one part of the BDP to be converted into a residential zone, Khot said.
We object to the substantial changes proposed as these are converting garden reservations to residential zones, he said, adding that they request a personal hearing (individually) in the matter at a suitable time and date. The communication should reach us at least 10 days in advance to facilitate participation in the process,Khot said. Former corporator Ujjwal Keskar said the state government decision to remove reservation of nullah garden and reduce the land reserved for gardens was not justified.
The maps published by the state government to show the amendments does not match with the maps mentioned in the development plan, he said, adding, all the amendments being proposed are in the interest of builders.
