The Pune Traders Association has decided to launch an indefinite strike from April 15,stating that they feel cheated by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan as their demands against local body tax were not met with by the government. We had suspended the indefinite strike after the CM assured us of considering our demands. But no solution came of the meeting. So,the strike will be re-launched on April 15, said Associations president Popatlal Oswal. He said the decision to re-launch the strike was taken at a meeting of traders in the city. The chief minister failed to stick to his word and the traders feel cheated and angry with the government, he added. Meanwhile,a rally of traders from across the state is being organised on April 12 in the city, where our future strategy would be decided. Suryakant Pathak of Grahak Panchayat said they will be taking up awareness campaign on LBT as the end impact of LBT would be on citizens. The government is holding citizens to ransom, he added.
