Day after Home Minister R R Patil said in Pune action would be taken against inspectors who fail to curb the menace of chain snatching,two such incidents were reported on Monday. Patil had also asked the police to use weapons to control chain snatching incidents.
Around 11.40 am,two motorcycle borne youth snatched a gold chain worth Rs 22,500 from a 55-year-old woman,Parvati Jayram Sutar,near her residence at Mauli Nagar,Dighi on Saturday.
Sutar lodged an offence with the Vishrantwadi police. Police said the woman was walking on the road when the suspects approached her to ask an address,and all of a sudden snatched her gold chain and fled.
In another incident,two motorcycle-borne youths snatched a gold chain worth Rs 10,000 from Reena Amitkumar Singh,30,in Lohegaon around 8.50 pm on Saturday. A resident of Chavan complex on Dhanori – Lohegaon Road,Reena lodged a complaint at the Vimantal police station in this case. Police said that Reena and her friend were walking on the road near Shivkripa building in Lohegaon,when the suspects snatched her chain and fled.
