The Bishops School,Kalyaninagar,completed a double crown by winning the boys under-12 and under-14 titles,while St Vincents School faced the ignominy of losing both the finals they featured in,on the final day of the eighth Bishops Invitational Inter-School football tournament on Saturday.
Jay Gupta scored a hat-trick,slotting in goals in the 13th,34th and 40th minutes as The Bishops comprehensively beat St Vincents School 3-0 in the under-12 final.
Gupta emerged the top-scorer of the tournament with six goals. St Vincents had to be content with the runners-up trophy and the award for best player which went to Steve Pereira.
The under-14 final saw The Bishops,Kalyaninagar,take on Army Public School. The Bishops was in an unstoppable form as they hammered four unanswered goals against their opponents.
The ‘best player of the under-14 category,Ishan Dey,scored a brace as did Ronak Tanna,who ended up as the top-scorer of the tournament (u-14) with nine goals.
Dey opened the account for Bishops,Kalyaninagar,in the 31st minute before Tanna made it 2-0 in the 35th minute. Dey scored yet another in the 42nd minute before Tanna completed the rout,slamming in the fourth,just three minutes later.
The Bishops School,Camp,gave themselves some reason to cheer as they won the boys under-16 title beating St Vincents School 2-1,in a cagey affair.
Ryan John opened The Bishops,Camp,account in the second minute before Dhairyasheel Bhadale made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute. St Vincents pulled one back through Pranav Bhandari in the 63rd minute of the match,but the Bishops,Camp,defence held firm to deny their opponents any further happiness.
