Like every year,the Yin Yang Mr & Miss Citadel show gave the city a good dose of fashion and beauty. Held on Sunday at Le Meridien,the contest was a platform for the city’s aspiring models. In between the fashion sequences,city personalities – Arnavaz Damania and BKS Iyengar – were felicitated at the Citadel Honours for their contribution to their respective fields. The judges for the beauty pageant included Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mahakshya,Arya Babbar,Proneeta Hira,Nitin Desai and Aparna Firodia. Contestants Maitreya Kotecha and Dipna Patel were crowned Mr & Miss Citadel while the first runners-up were Huzan Mevawalla and Deepak Kacha,followed by Akshya Waghmare and Sonakshi Segal as second runners-up.

This one’s for all MJ fans. Artist Burhan Nagarwala is exhibiting his works – A Tribute to Michael Jackson – at Malaka Spice,Koregaon Park,till the end of this month. “Gone but never forgotten,” the 24-year-old says of the late star. “MJ is a great motivation for anyone who wants to make it big in life,” he adds. Burhan’s abstract paintings depict his perception of achievers who have worked hard and who have their humility intact. The series is called ‘Legs’ and shows different aspects of life. “Give life your best and the best will come to you. You can’t do anything about the length of your life,but you can do something about its width and depth,” says Nagarwala who paints abstracts,still life,portraits and landscapes.

Pune’s fashionistas were all smiles on Saturday as they were invited for the launch of two designer labels – FAD Studio and KMax – at Sooshm,Baner. We spotted Nicola Pawar,Gauri Naiknavare,Seema Singh,Kiran Chavan,Chetna Shah,Bosky Sahni and Shikha Varma. Kamakshi Madan,owner of Sooshm,says,”It will be a great platform for the fashion and design students of FAD. My label will include accessories and a limited clothing line. We’re looking at both pret and couture.” Shivang Dhruva,director of FAD,says this new collaboration keeps Indian tastes and international trends in mind. As the evening went on,praise for the animal prints,chiffons,cottons and accessories did the rounds.
Sundays at the Race Course are hard to resist. The races are packed with fun,glamour and fashion. At the Panchshil Million,we spotted Pune’s racegoers being their fashionable best. But actress-turned-interior designer Twinkle Khanna stole the spotlight. She even handed out the trophy to Hoshang Nazir,owner of winning horse,Snow Blaze.
