THREE days after the Balewadi cement slab collapse that killed 9 persons on Friday, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to issue stop work order for the construction sites being developed by the Srinivas Pride Purple Properties firm, developers of Park Xpress in Balewadi .
Meanwhile, three civic engineers have been served show cause notice for negligence in performing their duties.
“The PMC has decided to issue stop work order to all its construction sites of the firm and its partner in civic jurisdiction. The firm that was developing Park Xpress is a joint venture of developers. Thus, it has been decided that all the projects of the developers would be issued stop work order,” said municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar.
The developers in the firm are Arvind Jain and Shravan Agarwal of Pride Purple, Shamkant Wani and Kailas Wani of Srinivas Developers.
Accordingly, two ongoing construction sites of developer, Arvind Jain of Pride Purple group, on survey number 112/1/2/1 in Baner and survey number 16 in Baner have been served stop work order. “The PMC online records showed four properties of developer Arvind Jain but two are completed so the rest two have been served stop work order,” said a civic officer.
The civic officer said that it was difficult to find all the construction sites of each of the developer as the PMC online records may not have their names if the plan is sanctioned in the name of some other developer in a joint venture. “The search would have to be taken at the ward level to physically locate the construction activity of each of the developer,” he added. The PMC has also suspended the registration of the construction firm, architect Pradeep Kosumbikar and Structural Engineer Hansal Parekh and associates in PMC.
“The PMC has decided not to give permission to any of the building plan proposals that involve any of the developers of the firm, architect or structural engineer of the Park Xpress project,” PMC order said. Meanwhile, the PMC has served a show cause notice to Deputy Engineer Dilip Kale, Junior Engineer Praveen Kavthekar and Building Inspector Abhijit Ambekar seeking their reply on the incident and negligence in duty.
