Baja SaeIndia,a national level inter-collegiate event,is all set to go international from 2015. To compete in the event,college teams conceive,design and fabricate 4-wheeled single-seater all terrain vehicles. The final of the 7th edition of the event would be held at NATRIP facility at Pithampur near Indore from February 20-23 next year.
Of the 327 teams who had registered for the event,125 have qualified for the final. The theme for this years edition is Raise the Bar. Of the 34 teams from the state,16 including two all-girls teams are from Pune, said Dr KC Vora,Deputy Director and Head of ARAI academy.
Sanjay Nibandhe,Convener for Baja SaeIndia 2014,said,An international panel of experts from US will evaluate and verify our proposal to go international from 2015. The international events are tough as the tracks there are much more challenging. We have to match up to their standards,both in term of quality of teams and infrastructure.
The winning teams will be awarded with prizes worth Rs 30 lakh.
An HR round will also be organised for the placement of students. Last year,as many as 90 students got placed, said Lalit Suryavanshi,General Manager,Cummins Turbo Technologies.
Students who participate in the event and aptitude tests are also awarded certificates. The certificate mentions BAT (Baja Aptitude Test) score. Many employers take these scores very seriously during placements, said Subodh Morye,Mahindra and Mahindra Limited,which has been the sponsors of the event from the past three years.
