Auto driver returns bag with jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh

Traffic control branch of Pune city police on Tuesday felicitated an autorickshaw driver for his honesty.

The traffic control branch of Pune city police on Tuesday felicitated an autorickshaw driver for his honesty. With the help of traffic police,driver Anees Shaikh returned a bag containing gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh to the passenger who forgot it in his rickshaw.

Around 10 am on Monday,a person named Farid Pasha Shaikh of Lohegaon hired Anees’s rickshaw at the prepaid autorickshaw booth at Pune railway station for Kondhwa. Anees dropped the passenger and his family at Kondhwa but the passengers forgot to take their air bag. After some time,Anees found the air bag lying in his autorickshaw and informed traffic police constables who were on duty at the prepaid boot at Pune railway station.

Soon police launched a search for the passenger who had left the bag in the auto and managed to locate Shaikh and called him at the Pune railway station. Police verified Farid’s identity and returned the bag to him.

The bag carried gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh,belonging to Farid’s wife and children. Farid thanked the autorickshaw driver and traffic police constables for returning his bag. Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Vishwas Pandhare felicitated Shaikh.
