Following a petty quarrel at home, a woman allegedly threw boiling oil and water at her husband’s body on Wednesday.

The Hadapsar police booked the woman identified as Seema Suresh More (46), a resident of Ghulewasti in Manjari Budruk. The police said the incident took place on Wednesday.

“Primary investigation revealed that the woman was upset because her husband Suresh Laxman More (48) objected her from consuming sweets because she is diabetic. Suresh’s son gave him sweets that he got from a temple after offering prayers on Tuesday evening. Apparently, Seema asked the son to give her sweets as well. But Suresh asked his son not to give the sweets to his mother because she was suffering from diabetes. Suresh asked Seema not to consume sweets because her sugar level was high. This led to an argument between the couple,” the police said.

Seema was angry and on Wednesday morning, she allegedly poured boiling coconut oil and water on her husband when he was sleeping and locked the door of the room. “Suresh repeatedly requested her to

open the door. Finally, she unlocked the door, following which their her son took him to a hospital. Suresh sustained 25 per cent burns on his chest, head and other body parts. He has lodged an offence of attempt to murder against his wife,” the police added.
