Ashok Chavan was desperate to join BJP to keep ED, I-T away: Sanjay Raut
Ashok Chavan has been named in cases linked to the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society case and an alleged land grab case.
What hastened Chavan's move, Raut said, was the mention of Adarsh Housing Society scam in the White Paper of the Modi Government. (File Photo) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said on Tuesday that Ashok Chavan was desperate to join the BJP, hours after the former Maharashtra Chief Minister formally joined the party in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state party president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
Raut alleged Ashok Chavan was under pressure since he was under the radar of the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department. ”As per my information, Chavan had decided to jump ship when Eknath Shinde joined hands with the BJP. Chavan was desperate to join hands with the BJP. He had held meetings with Devendra Fadnavis and even with Ajit Pawar,” Raut told reporters in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
