Asaram Bapu who is serving life sentence for rape at Jodhpur jail, and was granted a 7-day parole by Rajasthan High Court, has completed treatment at Madhavbaug Hospital’s oldest facility at Khopoli – a hill station between Mumbai and Pune. As per hospital authorities he was discharged Monday.
The religious leader was arrested in August 2013 for raping a minor girl at his ashram in Jodhpur and was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in the case by a POCSO court in 2018. Recently he was admitted to AIIMS Jodhpur when he complained of unease and chest pain and later appealed to Rajasthan HC for treatment at Madhavbaug hospital.
Dr Rahul Jadhav, hospital administrator said he was given panchakarma treatment, pranayam, yoga and change in diet apart from cardiac physiotherapy. “During the course of treatment he was able to walk approximately 2 km,” Dr Jadhav said.
