The Kondhwa police have booked a man and his wife for allegedly murdering a tanker driver following a past dispute. The incident came to light when local citizens spotted a dead body at Yevlewadi on Tuesday morning and informed the police. The deceased is Baliram Malhari Devkate (30) of Nanded. The police said suspects Balaji Vhanmane (30) and Kaushalya (25),who lived in Yevlewadi,and Baliram were from the same Nanded village. Baliram used to drive Balaji’s tanker. A few days ago,he met with an accident that caused damage to the tanker. On Monday evening,the duo had liquor together and then entered into a fight over the dispute. Balaji allegedly attacked Baliram with a sharp weapon,causing his death. With Kaushalya’s help,he later dumped the body at a spot near Yevlewadi bus stop. Senior police inspector Pandharinath Mandhare is heading the investigation.

Loan fraud: Engineer duped of Rs 10.7 lakh; seven booked

An offence has been registered against seven persons for allegedly duping an engineer of Rs 10.72 lakh against false assurances to provide him a loan of Rs 90 lakh for starting a hotel business. The complaint was lodged by Santosh Bhikaji Kamble (36),a resident of Dhankawdi. The accused are Manali Kulkarni,Vijayshri Kadam,Ashok Kulkarni,Sanjay Dongre and three others. In January this year,police said,the suspects took Rs 10.72 lakh from Kamble in different installments,in cash and through online transactions,on the assurance of sanctioning his loan of Rs 90 lakh for starting a hotel business. The suspects also allegedly have him bogus loan sanction documents and fixed deposit slips of reputed banks. Police sub-inspector B M Dayma is investigating the case.
