A large procession for Lord Shiva was organised by Bharat Mitra Mandal at Narayan Peth. Dhol and lezim troupes,musical bands and horses made up this grand devotional procession. Balasaheb Dabhekar,president of Bharat Mitra Mandal,Rahul Parkhi,Anil Yenpure,Mahesh Wagh,Rajabhau Naik,Rajabhau Pandit,Niranjan Dabhekar,Ajit Raut,Sandip Patil and others were present. Hundreds of devotees attended this Mahashivratri celebration.

Musical celebration

Noted singer Amit Kumar enthralled the audience with Kishor Kumar’s and his own popular numbers. The orchestra ‘Kishor Kumar Ke Nagme’ was organised on the occasion of Mahashivratri by Bharat Mitra Mandal at Ramanbaug school ground. The singer brought back memories of his father. He began the evening with his superhit song Bade acche lagate hain. Other numbers like Ye jo mohabbat hai and Yaad aa rahi hain followed.

Day of reverence

Mahashivratri was celebrated at Punyadham Ashram,Undri,as devotees thronged the Shiva temple from 4.30 am onwards. The temple was beautifully decorated with flowers. Devotees,in their colourful festive attire,added to the vibrancy. Punyadham Ashram,under the aegis of Maa Krishna Kashyap,also organised a free health care camp,wherein devotees experienced Sanjeevan Kriya for mind-body balancing and healing treatment by Dr Sujata Vaidya and Yogacharya Maruti Padekar. More than 35,000 devotees had darshan at the temple where prayers and devotional singing continued well into midnight of Shivratri.
