Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande on Monday said ‘China is using predatory economics and weaponisation of supply chains to expand its sphere of influence’. He also said obfuscation of reality and exploiting cyber and information operations are some of the common tools in the Chinese playbook.

The Army chief on Monday delivered the keynote address at the two-day strategic dialogue being held in Pune on the subject ‘Rise of China and Its Implications for the World.’ The two-day conference has been jointly organised by the New Delhi-based Centre for China Analysis and Strategy and the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies (DDSS) of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The conference has sessions on subjects including China’s strategic agenda, the crisis in South China Sea and Taiwan and China’s influence operations in India.
