To check inappropriate use of civic funds,PMC administration has decided to carry out all its purchases only through central stores department (CSD) instead of ward offices. There have been instances in which the ward offices have been found to be doing purchases on the demand of elected representatives,civic officials said.
There have been complaints of purchases being done by ward offices which is against the directions of the municipal chief, said Srinivas Kandul,in-charge of central stores department. He said all ward offices would be reminded of the municipal chiefs decision of not allowing purchases only through csd.
The elected representatives demands items such as buckets,benches,while computers and books for distributing in civic schools.
The purchase of computers have been conducted by the Aundh ward office for civic schools without informing the central stores department, a civic official said.
In the order on purchase of goods,the municipal chief has clarified civic departments should submit a list of items they want to purchase in a year to the central stores department.
