The fourth two-week Air Armament Course for Aircrew conducted at MILIT,Girinagar,concluded last week,the valedictory function for which was presided over by Air Cmde Surat Singh,Air Officer Commanding,Air Force Station,Lohegoan. The specialised course,which began on September 30,was subscribed by the Army,Navy and Air Force.
The course comprised rigorous classroom sessions and instructional visits. Beside the faculties of MILIT and DIAT (DU),a number of eminent scientists from various establishments such as University of Pune,ISRO,ARDE,HEMRL,R&DE (E),IRDE,ADE,DARE,ARCI,among others were invited to deliver lectures on the technological developments in the field of armament.
During the course,the participants visited DRDO/PSUs and Air Force establishments. The course is an excellent platform for the service operators to share their views with academicians,researchers and manufacturers. The course covered topics such as air armaments,rockets and missile propulsion system,missile kinematics,guidance and control,navigational technology and modern weapons such as UCAV,military laser applications,robotics in armament and target acquisition systems.
The importance of armament on aircraft and the need of seamless integration of the war machine and the operator by understanding the technology and its effective operation were underlined at the valedictory and inaugural address.
