Agri centre ‘director’ booked for cheating

THE Anti-Corruption Bureau of CBI on Tuesday booked Paresh Thakur,the self-proclaimed director of Maharashtra State Krishi Vikas Shilpa Kendra,for cheating.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau of CBI on Tuesday booked Paresh Thakur,the self-proclaimed director of Maharashtra State Krishi Vikas Shilpa Kendra,for cheating. Thakur had allegedly claimed to implement the 20 Point Programme on behalf of the Government of India.

According to the CBI-ACB,the organisation has been declared unauthorised by the Ministry of Statistics & Planning,which implements the 20 Point Programme. “He posed as director of the organisation and offered several people posts of directors at various districts. He took money from them for the appointments,” an officer said.

The CBI-ACB sleuths on Tuesday went to Thakur’s house in Kothrud to search the premises and question him. However,as his house was locked,the CBI team sealed it. Vidya Kulkarni,SP,CBI-ACB,Pune said,“The organisation’s office is in Pune,but Thakur dealt with people in Mumbai,Nashik and other cities.”

Thakur was earlier booked in a case of land fraud.
