After quarrel over tiffin delivery,young couple die in fire

A young couple died at their Borate Chawl residence in Bhosari after a quarrel.

A young couple died at their Borate Chawl residence in Bhosari after a quarrel. The woman set herself on fire and her husband died in a bid to save her.

Police identified the deceased as Nitesh Vishwanath Chambhare (25) and Sujata (22),of Borate Chawl.

Police said the duo hails from Nagpur. They got married last year. Their’s was an inter-caste marriage. The couple soon moved to Pimpri-Chinchwad and were staying at Borate Chawl. To make a living,the couple started a home delivery business in Bhosari.

On Monday,they got an order for 27 meals,instead of the usual 25. Police said Sujata was probably unwilling to accommodate the additional order and that led to an altercation between the two.

Their argument continued till later in the evening when Sujata allegedly doused herself with kerosene and set herself on fire in the kitchen.

On hearing her cries,Nitesh,who was in the adjacent room,rushed into the kitchen.

In his attempt to save her,he is suspected to have put his arms around her and in the process got trapped in the flames. His clothes caught fire and he suffered severe burns.

Neighbours,on hearing the commotion,rushed to their aid. They called the police and admitted the couple to Sassoon hospital.

Police said the couple had sustained nearly 100 per cent burns and succumbed to their injuries on Tuesday evening. Bhosari MIDC police station is investigating the case.
