Little did Mohammed Samim Rahimi,an Afghan student of Azam Campus’ MBA stream, know that singing Hindi and Afghani songs could spell trouble for him. But that is what happened on Friday.

According to Cantonment police,Mohammed Samim Rahimi, currently staying at an Azam Campus accommodation, was badly wounded after a group of youngsters attacked him with sharp weapons. He was hospitalised and his brother Mohammed Azizi (25),who stays at a similar accommodation, lodged a complaint of attempt to murder against the assailants at the Cantonment police station. Police have arrested four suspects — Abed Qureshi and Naved Qureshi of Bhimpura Camp,Mohsin Shaikh of Kondhwa and Dawood Qureshi.

Senior police inspector Sushma Chavan said that both Samim and Mohammed hail from Afghanistan and are students of MBA at Azam Campus. While Samim is a 2nd year MBA student,Mohammed is in 3rd year of the same course. Samim was singing Hindi and Afghani songs near the Masjid inside the Azam Campus, which led to an altercation between him and the four suspects. Around 3.45 pm,when Samim was going somewhere in an auto-rickshaw,the suspects allegedly dragged him out and stabbed him with sharp weapons.
