The special court in Pune on Tuesday granted bail to Joginder Singh Bhasin,managing trustee of Preet Mandir,who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the illegal adoption racket.
Additional sessions judge J D Kulkarni granted bail to Bhasin on a surety of Rs 2 lakh and ordered him not to look into Preet Mandir work,remain within the limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation and appear before the police every Wednesday.
Bhasins counsel Shrikant Shivade had on Friday sought bail on medical grounds. The CBI has moved an application against his bail plea on the basis of strong evidence against him.
The CBI had arrested Bhashin on August 9 in Belapur,Navi Mumbai,in connection with the adoption racket. He was booked on charges of forgery,cheating,kidnapping and misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs 25.7 lakh.
