Activists of Green Pune Movement have thanked Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for supporting preservation of biodiversity parks (BDPs) in merged villages even as the elected representatives in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had recently passed a resolution allowing 10 per cent construction on land reserved for BDPs.
We have thanked the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister for their unequivocal support to preservation of parks. They heard the demand of citizens, which was evident from the huge number of signatures collected from them over the past 10 years, said Satish Khot of Green Pune Movement
He said it is not only a small group of people that is garnering support for preserving Punes hills and hillslopes but also a large group which is enthusiastic and influential.
We have written to Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Pathak to cancel the general body resolution on BDP. The resolution was not put in public domain for suggestions and objections in stipulated time and should be rejected right away, said Khot.
