Action against the erstwhile erring directors of Rupee Co-operative Bank Limited will be initiated soon, said Sanjay Bhosale, administrator of the bank. Bhosale said they had managed to recover dues to the tune of Rs 3 crore and arranged auction of assets worth Rs 15 crore.
Replying to a query of Sandeep Khardekar of Creative Foundation who had accessed the bank documents under the Right to Information (RTI),Act,2005,Bhosale said cooperative banks did not come under the ambit of RTI but said he would soon be calling a general body meeting to talk on the issue.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had imposed restrictions on the bank, taking into view its precarious situation and had limited withdrawal up to Rs 1,000 only. Subsequently Bhosale and Vidyadhar Anaskar were appointed as administrators.
Khardekar criticised Bhosales contention that co-operative banks do not come under the ambit of RTI. The 97th constitutional amendment covers all cooperative banks under RTI, he said.
