A total of 67 officers,including one from the Sri Lankan Navy,passed out of the Naval College of Engineering at INS Shivaji,Lonavala,recently.
The officers were awarded B.Tech degrees by Rear Admiral Ashok Vishwanath Subhedar,Chief Staff Officer (Tech),Eastern Naval Command Vishakapatnam,at a valedictory function. Earlier,the graduating officers formally passed out in an immaculate ceremonial parade reviewed by the Admiral.
The Naval College of Engineering at INS Shivaji conducts a three-year Basic Engineering Course for cadet entry (NDA) officers and a four-year Naval Engineering Course for cadet entry 10+2 (Tech) officers. On successful completion,officers of both streams are awarded B.Tech degrees in mechanical and electrical & electronics engineering streams.
Amongst the 67 officers,12,including the Sri Lanka Navy officer,are from the 99th Basic Engineering Course while 55 officers are from 21st Naval Engineering Course. In Naval Engineering Course,the Sword of Honour was awarded to S Lt Vimal Sain for being the all-round officer of the course who excelled academics,sports,extra curricular activities and Espirit-de-corps. The FOCINC gold medal was awarded to S Lt Lokesh Dyani,FOCINC silver medal went to S Lt S N Mishra and the bronze medal was given to S Lt Rakesh Yadav for being first,second and third respectively in the overall order of merit. S Lt A Wilson was chosen the best Sportsman and S Lt Praveen Sharma for Positive Living.

Amongst the award winners from Basic Engineering Course,S Lt V Mohan was first in the over all order of merit. Lt YB Uttarwar was first and Lt Anoop Hameed was second in academics. Lt AC Thomas was adjudged the best sportsman and Lt Himanshu Khandelwal for Positive Living.
