With about 110 colleges seeking permission from the University of Pune (UoP) for a new division for courses in Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA),computer application (BCA),fashion technology (BFT) and business management (BBM) for the year 2009-10,there has been an overwhelming demand for admission to these courses.
While replying to a question from university senate member Hari Solanki,director of Board of Colleges and University Development (BCUD) Pandit Vidyasagar has stated that a total of 64 urban colleges and 34 rural ones have sought an increase in the division. The UoP is in the process of granting permission to these colleges.
In July 2008,the university had decided to approve more seats for BBA and BFT courses considering the higher HSC results in the state. About 75 colleges were given approval last year and more colleges were expected to apply.
A total of 352 new colleges have applied for affiliation for 2009-10 with the university. The universitys senate meeting on Friday is expected to deliberate on these points along with other issues pertaining to examination fees and recruitment of principals among others. A total of 47 resolutions have been put forth for discussion.
