5-yr-old boy ‘tortured’ by father,stepmother for bed-wetting

The boy meanwhile has been admitted to a hospital. The police said Golu’s parents used hot iron rod on his hand and thrashed him with a wooden baton. Local residents told the police that Golu’s parents had confined him in their house since November 9. The parents were allegedly beating him badly by tying him upside down. The police have booked the couple under Section 324,323,342 and 34 of IPC and relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Act 2000.

Social activist Sachin Shivaji Khandve,resident of Lohegaon,lodged the FIR in the case. He told the police that he got information about Golu around 5.15 pm on Tuesday from the boy’s neighbours. Khandve rushed to Ovhal Wasti with his friend Shashikant Saste. They went inside the house and found severe injuries on Golu’s body. Khandve and Saste immediately admitted Golu to a local hospital and informed the police.

Khandve told the police that Golu’s father Vijaykumar is a labour and Manju is the boy’s stepmother. The two have been beating up the boy for the last three days because he used defecate and urinate in his clothes in school and at home.

“We were shocked to see the situation of the boy. He was brutally beaten up for a petty reason. We came to know that Gupta is a native of Madhya Pradesh. His first wife is still in Madhya Pradesh. He brought the boy to Pune a couple of months ago. The police should arrest him. It should be probed whether he brought the boy without his mother’s consent,” Khandve said. Meanwhile,the Airport police produced Manju before a magistrate court,which remanded her to magisterial custody. Police sub inspector A N Shahane is investigating the case.
