A speeding state transport (ST) bus turned turtle near Kadus,about 45 kilometers from Pune,injuring around 50 people on Friday. The driver lost control of the bus after the steering rod reportedly snapped.
Police said around 15 people were seriously injured in the accident. The bus was plying between Saburde and Rajgurunagar,they said.
Police said as many as 90 people,including 30 college students,were in the bus.
As the bus was approaching Kadus it turned turtle after the steering rod snapped. The bus fell into a roadside pit injuring 50 people.
A police officer with Khed police station said some of the local residents rushed to the accident site and broke the window panes of the bus to rescue the injured passenger. Around 15 of them have suffered fractures and they are being treated at a hospital in Chandoli,he said.
